Dadar holds a prime importance from a geographical perspective for Mumbai. On a lighter note, it is beyond being a connectivity lane for Central and Western lines.

Dadar was the first planned city of Mumbai. Initially designed for around 60,000 people - Dadar today is home to nearly 20 Lakh people. It is the most popular shopping hub, street food corner and also epicenter to many posh residential complexes, grand hotels and institutions. Dadar in Marathi means “Ladder” a true symbolic of strategic connectivity.

It is this part of the city that connects major towns with each other. Dadar was instrumental in employment to many locals thanks to the hub of mills it had at a point of time. Significant among the list were Bombay Dyeing, Kohinoor Mills, Tata Mills. These mills played a very important role in enhancing economic state of the city and further brandishing its infrastructure. Some of the other well-known mills were later redeveloped over the years and some faced lockout.

Dadar despite being overcrowded today is still amongst the most sought after residential area in Central Mumbai. Perhaps proximity to places like Shivaji Park, Dadar Chowpatty, Siddhivinayak Temple, Lalbaug still attract the charm of people across the state. Shivaji Park has been home to many fitness freaks and youngsters who even today start their morning by jogging or doing brisk walks over here. The city’s contribution to sports, culture apart from being center to political hotspots is something which is not just remarkable but also makes it unique among other growing and established cities of Mumbai. The political or social gatherings arranged over here still guaranteed crowd turnout as it continues to remain one of the most attractive, busy and sought after place. There are few cities who not only have a historic importance or appeal but also continue to fascinate generations after the other. Dadar has been one such city which continues to shine and is truly a King among all other leaders.
